Artley was a contributing author of the Dick and Jane books ("See Dick. See Dick run. Run Dick run.") The books, which have been used by millions of American kids to get their start with reading over four decades, are just one of several primary reading programs Artley developed or revised. He also worked with Reader's Digest, Scholastic, and the World Book Encyclopedia. Artley died July 7 at age 91.
