Randy Cassingham's Honorary Unsubscribe Recognizes the Unknown, the Forgotten and the Obscure People who Had an Impact on Our Lives

Clint Youle

A meteorologist in the U.S. Army-Air Corps in World War II, Youle became the first on-air TV weatherman at the NBC TV station in Chicago in 1948. Drawing with a black marker over a map he purchased at a local store, he would describe the weather conditions. At the time, there were only 5,000 televisions in Chicago, but he was still widely known as "Mr. Weatherman". He retired from broadcasting in 1959 and, based on his name recognition, was elected to the Illinois Legislature in 1964. Youle died July 23 from complications from a stroke. He was 83.
