As a teen, Myers was the Maryland State Champion in shorthand, and was hired as a stenographer for the Makover, Roten Company, later called Londontown Manufacturing, which made uniforms for Navy officers. Myers took over the company when it collapsed during the depression, and made raincoats for the Army during World War II. Those "trench coats" became popular with civilians, and in 1954 Myers introduced the London Fog Maincoat, which became a fashion hit with both men and women. He sold the company, now known as London Fog, in 1976. Myers died December 26 in a retirement home in Maryland. He was 93.
