The 400th U.S. soldier to die in combat in the current war in Iraq. This entry will be updated as his or her name becomes known. He or she died 26 March in Fallujah in intense fighting, and was much too young.
The casualty was apparently Pfc. Leroy Sandoval Jr, 21, of Pasadena, Texas. A member of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Sandoval was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and had been in Iraq for less than two weeks when he was killed.
